C&P Garage

C&P Garage is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping veterans with navigating the VA system and paperwork for claims. We understand the unique challenges veterans face, and we are here to offer our support and assistance. Our goal is to provide veterans with the resources, knowledge, and guidance they need to successfully navigate the VA system.
We are a small team of volunteers that includes veterans and family members who are committed to helping those who have served our country. We are here to make a difference in the lives of veterans.

There are different grants that VA will give it Veterans to make their house more livable. These grants give the Veteran room to more through the house comfortably and to remain in the house instead of going to a nursing home.
PROJECT
Specially Adapted Housing (SHA) Grant:
This is a grant you can get if you meet both of the following:
-own or will the house, and
-have a qualifying service-connected
Qualifying service-connected disabilities include:
-The loss or lose of the use of more than one limb
-The loss or lose of the use of a lower leg along with the residuals (lasting effects) of an organic (natural) disease or injury
-blindness in both eyes (with 20/200 visual acuity or less)
-certain severe burns
-The loss, or loss of use, of one lower extremity(foot or leg) after
September 11, 2001, which makes it so you can't balance or walk with-
out the help of braces, crutches, canes, or a wheelchair.
Special Home Adaptation (SHA) Grant:
This is a grant you can get is if you meet both of the following:
-You or a family member own or will own the home, and
-You have a qualifying service-connected disability
Qualifying service-connected disabilities include:
-The loss or loss of use of both hands
-Certain severe burns
-Certain respiratory or breathing injuries
Temporary Residence Adaptation (TRA) Grant:
This is a grant that you can receive if the following is true:
-Qualify for an SAH or SHA grant (see above), and
-Are living temporarily in a family member's home that needs changes to
meet your needs (to use a TRA grant, you don't have to own the house)
Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA):
This grant provides medically necessary improvements and structural alterations to Veterans/Servicemembers’ primary residence.
-Veterans and Servicemembers who have a service connected
condition
-Veterans who have a non-service condition rated or more
service connected
